Due to the recent Covid-19 aka Coronavirus pandemic. Kingfisher Electrics are having to take on some stringent safety measures in order to continue providing services to our valued customers.
We want to provide you with the same high-quality service as before but want to reassure you by meeting the current health and safety guidelines provided to us by the government (time of writing is the 25th March 2020).
It’s our responsibility to follow this procedure, prevent the virus from spreading between households and ultimately save lives.
The following strategic points are non-negotiable and if they cannot be met, we will, unfortunately, be unable to assist you with your electrical issues.
If ANYONE in the building, we are intending to work at displays the following symptoms you must tell us Immediately! Please call our office line on 01273 789 276.
- high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- a new continuous cough – this means you’ve started coughing repeatedly
- Any other cold or ‘flu like’ symptoms.
- Before leaving their homes, our staff members will firstly wash their hands for at least 20 seconds using soap and water following the guidelines found via this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/health-51637561/coronavirus-watch-how-germs-spread
- They will then dress in their clean uniform and gloves which will have been machine washed at 60C (140F) or at 40C (104F) with a bleach-based laundry product to prevent germs spreading. As our uniforms are not white we will be opting for the 60C option.
- They will then leave their homes, ensuring that an anti-bacterial wipe is used to shield the palms of hands when touching doorknobs etc.
- They will then travel via van, maintaining a 2-meter distance from other people along the way before arriving at the place of work/your property. The steering wheel and vehicle touch points will be wiped with anti-bacterial wipes before setting off.
- Once outside the site we will put on our face masks and goggles before entering the property. Plastic bags will be fastened around our work boots.
- Once inside, customers must ensure they always exercise social distancing by keeping at least 2 meters away from our staff members.
- Open windows and doors whenever possible to make sure the venue is well ventilated.
- Once the job has been completed, we will inform the customer of all the areas we have been working in and explain the various touch points that will need to be cleaned by yourselves after we have left site.
- Before heading home all PPE etc. will be removed and placed into a heavy-duty plastic bag, the shoe protectors will be thrown away. We can then begin our journey home.
- Outside our homes, work boots will be removed and placed in a plastic bag – the door will be opened using an anti-bacterial wipe to shield the palm of our hands from the doorknob/entry point.
- All clothing/gloves will then be placed into the washing machine and cleaned following the previously mentioned procedure.
- We will then wash our hands as we have handled dirty laundry, before cleaning our goggles and mask using anti-bacterial wipes so they are ready for the next job.
- We will then wash our hands once more.
- “Avoid contaminating your clothes with your washing machine itself by pouring a cup of white vinegar directly into the drum and starting a hot wash cycle of at least 60C.
- “Try this every month to avoid any build-up of soap, mould and bacteria.”
- Customers will be asked for immediate payment via either cash, PDQ machine (using a credit or debit card) or via bank transfer using online banking whilst our staff member is present.
- The only way the viral particles become active is to get into your mouth, nose and eyes, so if you wear gloves, don’t touch your face and remove them properly following CDC’s guidelines, you should be fine.
- Please be aware that due to the amount of time and effort involved in meeting these new, strict guidelines we will need to increase our prices slightly to cover those costs.
